"Call to Me, and I will answer and show you great and unsearchable things you do not know."
~ Jeremiah 33:3
I was recently speaking with a few wonderful women wise counselors.
When we were talking about the Transfiguration, our sweet sweet Father laid the most poetic illustration of the distinction between the old covenant and the new covenant on my heart.
It was the kind of moment that fills you with love and joy. Being that this is Valentine’s Day, what better state than a heart full of Godly love?
Do you recall the moment in Exodus when Moses told God that he wanted to see Him?
God told him that it would be impossible for Moses to see Him in all of His glory, for if he did, he would perish.
There they were on a mountain top, and God did the next best thing.
"'I will cause all My goodness to pass before you,' the LORD replied, 'and I will proclaim My name - the LORD - in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.' ... The LORD continued, 'There is a place near Me where you are to stand upon a rock, and when my glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft of the rock and cover you with My hand until I have passed by. Then I will take My hand away, and you will see my back; but My face must not seen.'" (Exodus 33:19-23)
Beautiful.
Amazing.
Incredible.
What a gift, truly.
Yet, if we contrast it to the parallel of the Transfiguration account...
Jesus takes Peter, James, and John the brother of James and leads them high on a mountain alone.
Sound familiar?
Matthew 17:2 tells us, "There He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light."
Not only does He invite them along, but there they stand bearing full witness to His presence and glory.
Old covenant, God must protect us from Himself.
New covenant. He invites us along for the journey and reveals to us the fullness of Himself.
Beautiful.
Amazing.
Incredible.
What a gift.
And, as a bonus that just makes my heart smile huge is the presence of Moses (and Elijah, too) in that epic moment.
"Suddenly Moses and Elijah appeared before them, talking with Jesus."
Moses didn't miss out after all.
What a sweet Father we serve.
Best love note ever. So much better than chocolate, that's a Valentine to relish always.
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for inviting us into the fullness of Your presence, as we walk this earth.
Thank You for inviting us into relationship with all You are, for eternity.
Thank You for helping us to see and know and treasure the gift of being part of your story, today and always.
These things we pray in the most Holy name of Your Son, Yeshua.
Amen.
"As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul longs after You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, the living God. When shall I come and appear in God's presence?" ~ Psalm 42:1-2
"Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.'" ~ James 4:8
"My heart said, 'Seek His face.' Your face, O LORD, I will seek." ~ Psalm 27:8
May the Good Lord bless you and keep you, friends... always, in all ways. Amen.
Bonus song of praise... ♥
